ASAŞ, which is one of the biggest companies listed in ISO 500 in Turkey with its 5 state-of-art production facilities in Akyazı, Sakarya region and over 2000 workers and stable growth trend since its incorporation in 1992, and which is also one of the leading producers in Europe, was presented an award in the category of ‘‘Sustainable Production in Big Enterprises’’ in ‘‘Efficiency Project Awards’’ organized by the Ministry of Science and Industry. The third prize of ASAŞ which submitted its project entitled ‘‘Energy Saving in Foundry’’ was presented by Fikri Işık, Minister of Science and Industry in the ceremony that was organized at Congresium – ATO International Congress and Exhibition Hall in Ankara on 25.04.2016.
The competition has been organized by the Ministry of Science and Industry since 2014 in 3 different categories (R&D, Sustainable Production and Process Improvement) for Big Sized Enterprises, Medium Sized Enterprises, SMEs and Public Institutions. The competition received 139 projects only in the category of Big Enterprises from various sectors this year. The review of the pre-selected 62 projects was conducted by field visits. As a result of this process, 18 projects made it to the finals. ASAŞ, which adds value and creates solutions for all relevant sectors with its innovative products, technologies and its R&D Center which is the first and only R&D Center in its sector and the services that it provides, attended the competition for the first time this year and the three projects that participated the competition made it to the finals in their own categories.
ASAŞ’s award-winning, environment-friendly project ensures to perform the same work by consuming less energy and reduces the release of carbon. As a result of the project, by consuming 72.268kwh/year less electrical energy ASAŞ contributes the proper utilization of the resources of our country, which is dependent on foreign energy resources. It is possible to meet 1 month electricity need of 286 houses with 72.268kwh electrical energy.
