Asas Expands Production Capabilities

Mart 2025

Asas invests in a 150 MN extrusion press and a 45 MN Hybrex press, enhancing production efficiency, while focussing on sustainability at every stage.

Asas has invested in a new 150 MN extrusion press. The company can now produce large-scale aluminium products, including profiles up to 900 mm wide, 650 mm in diameter and 30 m in length.

Asas aims at boosting its industry standards through progressive investments while ensuring sustainability at all stages. With the introduction of a 150 MN extrusion press, Asas has expanded its production capabilities, now operating one of Europe's largest profile production line. This addition, alongside its existing 62 MN extrusion press, enables the company to manufacture large-scale aluminium products, including profiles up to 900 mm wide, 650 mm in diameter, 30 m in length, and seamless pipes. This development positions Asaş as a significant entity in sectors such as railway, automotive, marine, energy, renewable energy, and transportation.

Innovative Hybrex Press

Asas has also invested in a 45 MN Hybrex Press production line, tailored to meet its specific needs. Developed by SMS Group, this advanced line features fully electric die heating, billet heating, and aging furnaces, enhancing production efficiency and reducing carbon emissions by 530 t annually. The facility, designed with the automotive industry in mind, will produce structural profiles such as body parts, battery casings, crash management components, safety beams, and ABS/ESP blocks. Set to commence operations by the end of March, the facility incorporates advanced automation and plays a vital role in alloy development and the production of high-strength alloys. Sustainability remains a core focus from the investment decision through to the execution stage.

Advanced machining capabilities

At its facility, Asas is equipped to machine large-sized profiles with high precision and consistency. Mechanical processes are managed from a single hub, ensuring efficiency and flawless execution. The company uses 5-axis CNC machining centres to handle parts up to 30 m in length and 4.3 m in width, while robotic welding lines support projects up to 94 m in length. For mass production, Asas offers specially designed production lines, ensuring efficiency and consistency. Additionally, Asas provides subcontracting services for parts and accessories tailored to each project's specific needs. Advanced automation drives the entire production process, ensuring streamlined, high-quality results under one roof.

Commitment to sustainability

Asas commitment to sustainability extends beyond investments to its product offerings, which include the NexAL aluminium billet. With a carbon footprint of ≤ 4 t CO2e/t Al, NexAL is produced using low-carbon primary raw materials, high percentages of post-consumer recycled scrap, and renewable energy. Asas ensures traceability from raw materials to final shipment, demonstrating its dedication to environmental stewardship. By offering NexAL, a low-carbon aluminium billet, Asas empowers its customers to achieve their sustainability goals and contribute to a greener future. (tp)
