ASAŞ, one of the leading industrial enterprises of Turkey, has been entitled to receive the CFE approved Gold Level Cycle Friendly Employer Certificate by spreading the use of environmentally friendly transportation vehicle Cycles to reduce its carbon footprint within the framework of sustainability studies in its factory with an area of 1 million square meters.
ASAŞ became the second Turkish employer to receive this certificate.
ASAŞ pioneered the use of Cycles more at work in Turkey and received the ‘CFE (Cycle Friendly Employer) Gold Level Cycle Friendly Employer Certificate. ASAŞ became the second Turkish employer to be awarded the Cycle Friendly Employer Certificate by ENVERCHEVKO (Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection Association), a Member of ECF (European Climate Foundation- European Climate Foundation) and the National Coordinator of CFE Turkey. Aiming to reduce the environmental impact of its activities while improving the health and working conditions of its employees, ASAŞ encourages the use of Cycles, an environmentally friendly means of transportation, on the factory campus, which covers a large area of 1 million square meters. While reducing the carbon footprint of the factory with Cycles, it also offers a practical solution to the daily mobility needs of its employees.
320 Cycles for Employee Use
ASAŞ has implemented a number of projects to help integrate the Cycle into the daily functioning of the company. In addition to providing 320 Cycles for the use of employees and a large number of parking spaces spread across the campus, the 8 km Cycle path built on the campus facilitated transportation between the factory's production facilities. Dec. ASAŞ also continues to work to provide support to employees who want to go to work by Cycle by contacting the relevant institutions within the scope of the project and connecting Cycle transportation to Akyazı district. Considering CFE Decertification as a powerful tool in creating healthier individuals and society, ASAŞ also aims to raise awareness among employers in the region about the environmental and socio-economic benefits of commuting to work by Cycle. In this context, ASAŞ, which plans to build a Cycle path that will create important transportation links between Sakarya and Akyazi district in cooperation with Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality, will also establish a repair workshop that is planned to provide 24-hour service Dec. In this way, general maintenance of all Cycles will be carried out twice a year. ASAŞ also provides Cycle trainings focusing on helping employees develop new skills and competencies through ASAŞ Academy.
